How a rep at CLA Today turned a hamburger break into $2,500 in new business.

A CLA Today field rep stopped for lunch in rural Montana. Forty-five minutes later, he'd searched Voze for nearby prospects, driven to a school district nobody in the territory had ever visited, and walked out with a $2,500 order. Forty-five minutes. One overlooked customer. $250 in commission for what used to be downtime.

01 The problem

The customers you'd never think to drive to are the ones that don't get visited.

CLA Today's reps cover huge, sparsely-populated territories selling into janitorial, industrial, and food service accounts. The main highways and the named customers get visited. The places nobody thought to put on the route — small school districts, off-route facilities, businesses tucked behind the obvious traffic patterns — never even enter the rep's awareness, let alone their day.

That blind spot is a real revenue problem. Rural Montana isn't full of prospects, but it has them — and the ones that don't get visited are exactly the ones with no incumbent rep, no competitive pressure, and the highest first-meeting close rate when somebody finally walks in the door. The catch was that finding them in real time, while standing in front of a hamburger, used to be impossible.

"He knew of customers nearby, but he wondered if there were prospects he could call on. The places he didn't know existed were the ones that mattered."

Without a tool that could show overlooked prospects on a map, in his territory, in 30 seconds — that lunch was just lunch. With one, it became a sales call.

02 The solution

Search by business type. In a 10-mile radius. Right now.

The CLA Today rep opened Voze and used the lead mapping tool while still in the diner. He searched for school districts within 10 miles using the "new leads" feature. Voze surfaced an unvisited district — nowhere near the main highway, miles off any existing route, and never called on by anybody in the territory.

"Voze mapped an unvisited district nowhere near the main highways. The rep assigned it to his territory, marked it as a prospect, and drove over to it."

When he walked through the door, the response from the district was the response every rep dreams about: "Nobody ever comes over here! We don't even exist to most people. We need help, and we'd love to do business." A customer that wasn't on any competitor's radar, a need that wasn't being met, and a rep who happened to be in the area because Voze put him there.

03 The results

A $2,500 order. $250 in commission. All over a hamburger.

The rep walked out with a $2,500 new order and a 10% commission — $250 earned, on a day when nothing on the calendar said money was on the line. The story is small in absolute revenue but enormous in what it implies: every rep, on every lunch break, in every territory, is sitting on top of unvisited prospects within a 10-mile radius. Voze made that fact actionable for the first time.

For CLA Today, the lunch-break story isn't an outlier — it's the template. The lead-mapping tool turns idle minutes into prospect calls, downtime into commission, and unfamiliar geography into a Tuesday route extension. Multiply that across the rep team across a year, and a sales force that thinks it knows its territory turns out to have been only half-deployed all along.

"Finding overlooked prospects made my day!"

The most expensive prospect in any territory is the one you didn't know existed. CLA Today made finding them a 30-second habit. That habit pays for lunch — and a lot of other things — many times over.
